Inquiry: 491/489 visa

Hello Everyone!

Good day to all.
First of all thanks God, we have received our visa grant last March 11, 2020. And we are planning to move before end of March this year.
Would like to ask to those who have 489/491visa who already travelled to Australia if what are the things needed before boardingor what are the things needed by the Immigration Officer?
Do we need to seek for certificates to owwa or poea or any government agencies?

By the way we lodge our visa application on January 19, 2020, CO Contacted us after 2 weeks for additional medical requirements, and completedall documents on February 21, 2020.
Got 70 points (55 plus 15 (for nomination)

Wala pa naman travel ban. Pero I am interested how they will classify 491 visa holders. Since hindi PR, is that mean if they imposed travel ban againts Pinas, 491 visa holders cannot enter AU?

I am referring to travel ban of Australia. Napanood ko message ng Australian PM last night and he concern is keeping mga tao safe and yung trabaho ng mga nandoon specially mga casual or part-time.

As the moment, the country is not yet banned in Australia, meaning we can still continue to book for our flight.

As I've said, we are planning to do it last Week of March.

Hello po sa mga nag arrive na po ng Australian under 489/491 visa, ask ko lang po ano mga inasikaso nyo pagdating ng Au?
Required din po ba tayo kumuha ng TFN and apply ng Centrelink?

All I know is we are eligble to apply for Medicare.

Yeah curious din. Akala ko may travel ban for non-PRs/non-citizens/non-exempted travellers. Kasi ang 489/491 is temporary visa, so unless nakakuha kayo ng "travel exemption" I doubt na papasukin ka at this time. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi everyone! Just confirming, since Au borders are open already... for visa 491 holders exiting the Philippines, no CFO/PDOS or OWWA/POEA clearances or certificates are needed at Philippine immigration? Just passport, ticket and visa grant notice?

Ambiguous kasi status ng 491, parang in-between ng work and immigrant visa!

Wala pong kailangan pag 489/491 need lang magbayad ng travel tax. Hehe.

Hello All,
Happy new year po sa lahat! Magtatanong po sana ko about 491. Sabi kc ng agent ko by January 2022 magoopen ang 491 sa NSW. Pinapapili nya ko kung anong preferred ko na region based on my job, family needs, school, proximity to Sydney, etc. Since based sya sa AU, tinanong ko kung may marerecommend sya pero ayaw nya magrecommend baka daw kc sya ang sisihin ko. hehe

Baka po meron dito may idea kung san pinaka okay na region sa NSW? My nature of work is IT - business analyst. My wife is also in the field of IT and we have a 6 yr old son. Searching naman ako sa net pero wala ko masyadong makita info about regional. Baka meron dito may idea. hehe

Hi guys. Quick question for my sis in law who's applying for 491. They're still waiting for their invitation and she just gave birth 5 days ago.. The agent is asking around 1800$ to update their eoi with their new baby as their dependent.. For me this is rediculous.. Is it really that hard of a process to update? Do you think they can raise a complaint?

For me $1800 is too much for updating an EOI only. Wala pa palang invitation. Better look for another agent, or update it by yourself. Or baka ang mnmean nya ay yung $1800 ay additional processing fee na for her child (for the entire visa process).

Updates in EOI is normal and my agent is not charging me naman. However, this is a different case from simply updating the EOI. It might be because the baby will now be added to the application. If I am not mistaken, ang rate ng agent depends kung ilan ang kasama sa application if not per family member. Unless they started with the agent knowing that there will be an additional family member on the way at nakasama sa initial quote and now asking for additional payment, then that is a different story. Better clarify this with the agent first before raising any complaints.

Thanks @nelskii and @hikari ...actually you're right.. they started with the agent nong wala pa silang baby and they didn't expect na ma buntis yung asawa nya. yung sis in law ko naman hindi nila inupdate yung agent nila. and now i'm just thinking because of that, the agent is taking advantage of their situation.. so yun cguro that's why the agent is charging them this big amount for them to add the baby is the dependent.

but that being said, it's just to much! 1800 USD to add a dependent applicant? they don't even have the ITA yet.. they just lodged they EOI 10-12 months ago in TAS and SA...

any inputs or advise will surely help.

No worries! Baka it will help them na balikan yun quote at previous conversations nila with the agent regarding the fee. Like per tao ba yun rate ni agent, etc. Ask rin kung gano ba magiging ka-tedious ang paperworks baka mas maintindihan nila bakit ganyan kataas ang amount na hinihingi sa kanila.

I hope Ms. Rhea, @RheaMARN1171933 can shed some light if the amount is acceptable for this case or it really is too much for the paperworks since baby pa nman yun additional dependent. Alam ko agent siya eh.

We don’t actually put additional charges on dependents. Whether you’re single or with dependents as long as we’ll only be doing one skills assessment (for the main applicant only) it’s the same rate for us. We’ve just had a client contacted us re their newborn. We just updated his EOI, and that was it. It didn’t cost them anything.

I can’t speak for other agencies though. Each will have their own way of charging fees but I guess it’s all about choosing the right one (for you) from the very start. Sadly, most agencies see clients as just numbers but there are those who value integrity over other things. You’ll be able to identify one and differentiate one from the other from the first point of contact pa lang. just bear in mind, high fees won’t mean they are good and higher chance of your case being handled more efficiently.

There’s a form to complete during visa application to add the baby but I wouldn’t advice this given your situation. Firstly you don’t know when you get the invite, maybe in a year’s time? It can be subject to issues later on so best is to update the eoi. I can’t even consider such scenario you’re asking since from an agent’s perspective, it’s auto pilot for me to make sure all actions done on cases won’t result to issues that may complicate the case. Do things by the book so you can’t be faulted

It’s half of the fee for the spouse. You can easily Google this amount or ask your agent. It’s $1k plus I think. They change it every year, I will need to check my end. Sorry that’s admin part hindi ko memorise pricing lol

Cuz right now, 1 year has passed for my sister-in-law and his husband, and they're only at 70 points as a "cook." ... the primary applicant is my SIL's hubby. And he's a bit sceptical on getting the ITA now that a year has passed. he said "why would I pay around 1,800 USD just to update my EOI? that's not even the actual visa application yet?"

Good morning! First of all, madali lang i-update ang EOI to add their dependent. Since may baby na sila, need talaga i-update ang EOI no matter what, unless hindi nila isasama ang baby. Since wala pa naman silang ITA, it's so simple now to add the baby as dependent. Usually, pwede pa rin mag-add ng dependent (baby) kahit may ITA na and ongoing na ang visa application, meron lang form and supporting docs na need i-submit. Pero mas complicated pa 'yun as mentioned as well by Ms. Rhea.

Costing/fee ng agent is another thing. Need nila i-clarify nang maigi 'yun. At the end of the day, they need to decide kung gusto nila ituloy ang application. If namamahalan sila sa 1800$ na fee ng agent, which is talaga namang mahal kung para lang sa pag-update the EOI, they can opt to find another agent or they can DIY.

Pero bottomline is, it is the right time to update the EOI para walang complications later on, kung talagang ipu-push nila ang application nila. And need nila i-clear ano ba talaga ang inclusive sa fee na sinasabi ng agent nila. Anyway, good luck sa kanila!

Yes there is a form which refers to corrections but this is very technical now and if you’re not an agent could be complicated to deal with so I wouldn’t advice that path.

The EOI needs to be updated as soon as there’s a change in circumstance. I think a small admin fee to update can be justified vs the amount mentioned. Perhaps worth clarifying this with the agent. Could it be possible that the fee refers to the additional cost which includes the visa application fee?
